Katie Duncan (Schiaffino) graduated from UMBC with a BA in Dance and Certificate in Dance Education. She came to New Town High School in 2014 after teaching for five years at Kennedy Krieger School. Katie believes in finding the voices in all her students and fostering a supportive and creative environment where they can articulate their thoughts and express themselves artistically. Under her direction, NTHS Dance Company has performed on the professional stage at Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C., and countless state and county wide festivals and adjudications. The dance company has taken home Platinum awards in competition and students are encouraged to join the National Dance Honor Society under Katie's established chapter.

Katie also stays current, dancing professionally for DEVIATED THEATRE, a Washington, D.C.-based company, appearig in their works "creature", "siGHt", "Sway", "LORE", and "Aspiro", and previously held the position of Rehearsal Director for the company. Other professional dance experiences include dancing for Deep Vision Dance Company based in Baltimore, MD and Baltimore Lady Mariners Dance Team where she was dance captain for their 2014 season.
